GreenLight PVP Laser Pre-Procedure Patient Instructions
Pre-procedure:
- Call your doctor if you develop a cold, fever, or infection.
- Let your doctor know if you are taking any blood thinners such as aspirin or aspirin-containing medications, coumadin, or plavix. Your doctor may recommend that you stop taking these medications several days prior to the Green Light PVP Laser Procedure.
- The night before the procedure you may eat and drink as usual. Do not take eat or drink anything after 12:00 midnight the night before.
Day of the procedure:
- Take all of your regularly prescribed medication as directed by your urologist with a sip of water.
- Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes.
- Bring a list with you to the hospital of all the prescriptions and nonprescription medications that you take regularly.
- Arrange for transportation home; you may not drive or operate dangerous equipment for 48 hours after the procedure. If your doctor has indicated that you will need to stay overnight in the hospital, be sure to arrange for someone to pick you up the next day.
