Post-Procedure Patient Instructions For Office TUNA
Have pre-arranged transportation to your home available.
After your TUNA procedure, although you may feel symptom free after the first week, healing of the prostate continues for 4 to 12 weeks. During this time you may experience some of the following symptoms:
- Blood in the urine for the first week and then intermittently
- Blood in the semen
- Frequent urination at night
- Burning and urgency with urination
For symptom relief:
- Continue your prostate medication
- You will be given a prescription for medication to take for discomfort
- You will be given a prescription for an antibiotic to take for infection
Recommendations:
- Drink plenty of fluids, especially water
- Avoid things that can irritate the bladder like alcohol, caffeine in coffee, teas, soft drinks, and chocolate
- Sexual intercourse may be resumed per doctor's instructions
- It is safe to shower, as you desire
Please call the office for any of the following:
- Unable to urinate
- Oral temperature greater than 101 degrees F
